MY STORY

My photographic style is continuously evolving, much like that of the natural world I document. I strive to create my own unique vision of nature, getting as up close and frame-filling as my equipment will allow safely for both me and my subjects. My passion for nature extends from the largest critters down to the tiniest details, and is an excellent compliment to my career as a wildlife biologist. I feel like my scientific knowledge serves to enhance my creative vision with a camera.

The knowledge I have of animal behavior and quality of light, often allow me to predict where I need to be and when I need to be there to get the shot I envision. The quality of the light is paramount to being a successful photographer, and consistent success in nature photography demands an understanding of the behavior of your target. When the action happens you have to be there, and be there in the right light at the right time!

I am basedout of Richmond, Virginia, but love to visit places around the globe and am available fo assignment work.

I believe in the standard "Take only pictures leave only footprints." I think that nature photography provides an opportunity to "Take time." Time to see, smell, feel, think, and simply immerse oneself into nature. Please take the time to wander around my works, and time to realize that the natural world is truly an endless opportunity for exploration.
